Monument Valley is in the four corner region in the southwestern region of the US. I grew up ini the areas just southeast to this area. While on a recent trip through this region, I realized it was the perfect backdrop to explore the work of drawing while driving.  This is the iconic lanscape of the west

In the exhibition, "Draw Me a Picture", I chose Monument Valley as the place I wanted to bring a conceptual approach to  re-examining this Iconic landscape of Southwest and challenge the dominant perspective of beauty and romanticism generally attached here. 

An interesting point to be made about this location is its accessibility only through a vehicle.  Not only does a visitor need a vehicle to get to Monument Valley, but a vehicle is the preferred way to experience the canyon's eight mile scenic loop.
